In the series' plot, Omni-Man, the patriarch of the Viltrumites, finds himself facing an emotional dilemma after almost killing his son Mark to prepare the Earth for their race's invasion. The new part of season 2 sees Omni-Man move to Thraxa, where he becomes ruler after saving the planet from a black hole. In an exclusive interview with Screenrant, J.K. Simmons talks about his experience keeping the series' developments under wraps and his satisfaction in doing so. “I'm the captain of the spoiler brigade,” Simmons jokes, noting how much he appreciates the suspense that builds around the show. Revealing details of Omni-Man's emotional journey, Simmons reveals an approach inspired by the legendary Leonard Nimoy as Spock in the popular Star Trek franchise. “Nolan becomes more and more accustomed to life on Earth and begins to struggle with emotions like repentance and empathy, which are completely foreign to him,” explains the actor. “It is an interesting interpretive challenge to find the balance between these conflicting emotions.”
Speaking about the future of the series, Simmons offers a preview of season 3 of Invincible. “I'm quite far along in recording season three,” the actor reveals. “And I can confirm that there will be many surprises and exciting developments to come.” With the second part of Invincible Season 2 continuing to keep viewers on their toes, the words of J.K. Simmons promise a gripping and emotionally charged series. It remains to be seen how Omni-Man will deal with his internal challenges and what his fate will be later in the story.
