Tron: Ares, the official release date of the film announced

The third chapter of Tron will arrive next year.

Along with plenty of future projects, Disney recently revealed the official release date for one of its most anticipated projects, Tron: Ares. The third feature film in the series, set in a digital world, will see the light on October 10, 2025. Tron – Ares: plot, cast, and everything we know about the film coming out in 2025: The Tron franchise has a long history that extends beyond the films, including video games, comics, music, and Disney theme park attractions. This time, actor Jared Leto will take the lead role in the film. Despite the mixed box office success of the previous films, both Tron and its 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy, have earned quite a loyal fan following.

Each Tron film has been a technological experiment, always using the most cutting-edge CGI to create a unique digital world. Producer Justin Springer stressed the importance of keeping this tradition alive with Tron: Ares. According to the official synopsis, the film follows a highly sophisticated program, called Ares, who is sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humanity's first encounter with AI beings. 

Director Joachim Rønning expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that the film builds on the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology, and storytelling created by the original film 40 years ago. The film's cast includes an array of talent, including Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson. The film's producers include Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Emma Ludbrook, and Leto and Tron's original writer and director, Steven Lisberger.
