Kuberaa, the much-talked-about socio-political thriller starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, hit theaters on June 20, 2025, and it’s already making waves. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, this pan-Indian crime drama has pulled in a solid ₹5.9 crore share (including GST) in the Nizam region alone over its first two days, setting a new benchmark for Dhanush’s films in the area. Here’s why this fiery start has everyone buzzing.

The film kicked off with a bang, earning a share of ₹2.7 crore (including GST) on day one in Nizam, outpacing Dhanush’s previous Telugu hit SIR, which collected ₹2.64 crore across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Day two saw even stronger numbers, with a share of ₹3.2 crore (including GST), driven by growing word-of-mouth and packed evening shows. That’s a two-day total of ₹5.9 crore in Nizam, a region known for its tough-to-please audiences. With Telugu occupancy hitting 66.19% on Saturday—peaking at 83.67% for night shows—the film’s clearly striking a chord.

Kuberaa dives into a gritty tale set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums, following three characters—a beggar (Dhanush), a businessman (Jim Sarbh), and a government official (Nagarjuna)—whose lives collide in a web of ambition, greed, and moral choices. Fans have been raving about Dhanush’s intense performance as Deva, with some calling it a career-best, while Nagarjuna’s charismatic role and Rashmika’s surprising depth have added fuel to the hype. Devi Sri Prasad’s electric background score and Niketh Bommireddy’s sharp cinematography have also gotten love for keeping the 182-minute runtime gripping.

Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, the film’s ₹120 crore budget is paying off with strong pre-release deals, including a ₹47 crore streaming deal with Amazon Prime Video. While reviews are mixed—some praise the emotional second half and stellar acting, others note a dense plot—the audience response in Nizam has been electric. Posts online have called it a “blockbuster” with “no boring moments,” and the film’s already grossed over ₹30 crore nationwide in two days.

The Nizam numbers are a big deal, especially since Kuberaa faced no major competition in Telugu or Tamil markets. With Sunday’s collections expected to climb even higher, the film’s on track to be one of 2025’s biggest South Indian hits. For Dhanush, it’s a triumphant Telugu return, and for Kammula, it’s proof he can deliver a mass-appeal thriller without losing his signature depth. If you’re in Nizam or beyond, Kuberaa’s first two days suggest it’s a ride worth catching.
